Hair Loss
Hair is an important tool in social communication. Hair loss causes significant deterioration in people's quality of life. There are approximately 5 million hair follicles in humans. Approximately 150000 of these are found on the scalp. Hair follicles have phases that include growth, regression and rest periods. Losing up to approximately 150 hairs per day is considered normal.
What should be considered in patients suffering from hair loss?
In patients complaining of hair loss, the disease causing the hair loss should be determined first and treatment should be started accordingly. All treatments will fail unless the disease causing hair loss is identified and the cause is eliminated. Therefore, in patients complaining of hair loss, detailed examination, dermatoscopic (evaluation of the scalp with a magnifying glass) examination, and scalp biopsy should be performed when necessary.
Are PRP and mesotherapy effective in hair loss?
First of all, PRP and mesotherapy, which are applied in addition to the treatment of primary hair loss, make a positive contribution to the treatment of diseases such as androgenic alopecia and pattern hair loss (male/female pattern hair loss).
